TYPES OF DAMAGE

What types of damage are there in the game and how are they different?

Fall Damage

An Agility check will help determine how much damage you take from falling and whether any bones are broken. The terrain you land on also factors into damage.

For every metre above your (Agility check / 10) that you fall you will gain 3 wound levels. You will also be knocked into a prone position.

Falling from a height of 20 metres or greater will always knock you unconscious.

Falling from a height of 40 metres or greater will instantly kill you if nothing slows or breaks your fall.

Impact Damage

Impact damage is caused by blunt force trauma, such as being hit by a club or falling debris. This type of damage is best mitigated with soft padding protection such as gambeson or thick leather.

Slashing Damage

Slashing damage is caused by sharp, cutting objects, such as swords or claws. This type of damage is best mitigated by plate armor and chain mail.

Piercing Damage

Piercing damage is caused by pointed objects, such as arrows or spears. This type of damage is best mitigated by plate armor and chain mail but is often more likely to ignore armour or be completely mitigated by it depending on the accuracy of the hit.

Poison Damage

Poison damage is caused by toxins or venom, and can cause ongoing damage over time. This type of damage is often used by characters with alchemical knowledge.

Burn Damage

Burn damage is caused by intense heat or extreme cold and can cause ongoing damage over time. This type of damage is inflicted by fires or over exposure to cold temperatures. Burn damage can also be inflicted by acidic chemicals.

Electrical Damage

Electrical damage is caused by any harmful source of electricity. This type of damage will be extra effective against targets that are more conductive, such as being wet or having open wounds. Electrical damage is also more likely to stun targets.

Sensory Damage

Sensory damage is caused by attacks that overload or disrupt the senses, such as bright flashes of light or loud noises. This type of damage can impair a character’s ability to perceive the environment and react to threats. Sensory damage can inflict wounds without damaging HP.
